The Story Behind Digital Roots

Hi there! My name is Paige, and I thought I'd talk about why I'm making my game, Digital Roots, and let you learn a little bit more about me!

I am currently a college student, studying software development. I have dabbled in game development before (made some micro-games and started some other projects that were way too ambitious for a beginner), but this one stuck.

I'm building Digital Roots as a solo-dev, one scene, one game at a time.

This game started with a simple idea: What if there were a game that helped my parents understand their computers more? I've always been the "tech support" in my family, and it's hardly ever an actual problem, just a lack of knowledge. I decided to help change that.

Digital Roots is my attempt at an encouraging, fun, and whimsical learning space for older adults (or anyone who feels left behind by technology). It combines mini-games with real computer skill building. Mouse movement, keyboard practice, typing accuracy, typing speed, and even online safety are all included in this game.

I've been creating everything by myself with the exception of music and sound effects. All the art is hand-drawn (I know it's not good). It's a ton of work, and I've been spending my every waking hour on it, but knowing this might help someone makes it all worth it.

Digital Roots is also a reason to push myself to try different things, and maybe actually complete a game. This is at the very least, the first game I've made to have a demo!

Anyways, thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy Digital Roots. <3
